My experiences of being an introvert and having an obsession with the ultimate conversation starter.
The biggest part of having your body tattooed is self-expression. People use tattoos to express themselves and their personalities and sometimes literally putting their heart on their sleeves. Having tattoos also makes you part of a community. Everyone that is “tatted up” knows to appreciate the art with the time, effort, and pain that went into it.
So, with art on your body, you’re bound to be asked about it. I knew to some degree that would be true and as an introvert, I simply had to face it. Tattoos are a conversation starter whether you like it or not.
Being an introvert I’m not a huge fan of being approached or being talked about by strangers, but having tattoos is an invitation to be approached. When I worked at a register this summer, I was getting constant compliments or questions about my tattoos. The art on my body has helped me speak to strangers and interact (without being awkward) because I’m simply getting more practice.
